Busy day

DARK FATHOM
well it looked like it wasn't going to get done but its may be finshed for our presentation next thursday the 16th! We worked our butts off today and we (finally) all worked together to get everything we needed into the game. The animations still need a lot of work if this game is going to be amazing. The only bad things is that the game never really got tested and we just got everything in the game. I wonder if anyone is going to like it... LOOKS LIKE I KNOW WHAT IM DOING THIS WEEK!

CHINCHILLA FIST
I did manage to get the skydome in with the lighting. The mast have been modeled and are to size but still need to be textured, so that is most likely what is going to get done tomorrow along with some testing as mentioned above. A lot of other modeling needs to be done. Ill post some photos as work gets done over the weekend to keep anyone up to date!

VECTORFORM INTERVIEW
I don't know how well it went today. I showed up at 10 which was the time of the interview but i wish i would have left 5 minutes earlier, oh and i should try and not get lost next time. I had my stuff available but i feel i presented it poorly but it covered all the areas that i've had some experience in and it got the point across. Hopefully they liked me enough and accept me as an intern, i feel i should write a thank you letter just for letting me have a chance. Looks like something to add to the to do list tomorrow.

A SPECIAL OPPERTUNITY
I got an email a while back that i didnt know about, about 2 months ago requesting if i could help on a game from someone i met eariler this year during interfaces. I emailed him back and he was indeed still in need of help. If he likes my work i could see myself helping out for my 3d skills which is very exciting.

CHINCHILLA FIST
Its been a while since i posted an update. Did a lot of modeling for Chinchilla Fist over the last week. 10 in total, 3 of them were textured. Got water in the level now and some mast so that the ship appears to be moving. Next will come the sky dome to make the level feel real. Got to do a little research and hopeful it will be in the level by tomorrow!

DARK FATHOM
While this is going on my team project class is getting even worse. All the team is getting lazy and our game while it looks alright, should have been way better and much more playable at this point. With only two weeks left everyone needs to get their butts in gear. I have been trying to motivate the team in class and it works to an extent but as soon as class is over nothing is getting done. With only 2 - 2 and a half hour classes a week our game might turn into a deep failure.

FANTASY FOOTBALL
Just had a terrible loss today. I am now in a must win situation next week after winning 8 games in a row just to be in this place. Argghh i hate fantasy football. I have the most points scored and the most points against and am currently in second place. The leader is two games ahead of everyone, is 5th in points for and 8 in points against out of 12 teams. COULD I be lucky for once and just not have everything terrible happen to me. I swear everything is stacked against me times (Adjustable number) for no matter what i do. OH and the lions lost like always so nothing exciting happen today except that awful forearm (i mean two hand push) to the back of JAY CUTLER'S head. Way to go ref 3 terrible calls in the last 3 weeks.
INTERNSHIP
Going to try and apply for an internship at VECTOR FORM in the next week. I Got three good 3D models to show and hopefully they will get me an interview. I got two terms of school left after this semester (next year) and i feel like i don't have enough work to show for it. Well its a motivator i need to get my ass in gear. Gotta make the family proud!

What a Week...



This week has been super busy and i honestly did not work on the game. I added a few steps to the top deck and made it so that top of the ship is open. The sky dome is under work and april has finished our guide to impliment into the game. We are still have problems programming the game and our animation is pretty terrible but the next five weeks should see some tremendous improvement over this version.




The next couple of weeks will see the level design completely done. This includes all the walls textured and most of the models and gameplay elements placed in the level. I redid the map as seen below and just need to put the finishing touches on the final build of the level.

Texture

Can't believe i didn't think of this on staturday but since i want the walls of the brushes to be on the ship anyway. I can just put an opcaticy map on the walls i don't want to show up so that we can make it appear the player is outside on the ship top deck. That way we can add a sky and water without the player actually falling off the ship.

I wish i would have built the entire ship in 3ds max now... but the textures probably would not look as clean.

Game Production 3 Update



The ship level is well underway. I finished the bottom level of the ship last night and need to build the top deck in UDK as well, since you wont see the outside of the ship i won't even bother to develop the side of the ship, just the top deck. Everything should be pretty easy to texture this way,the textures should align up nicely and no unwrapping needed.

So i joined the PlayStation rewards program in hopes that i will get to go to CES next year. Now the only thing i have to do is play games and play and play... and buy. Sounds easy enough, one problem though, don't have a whole lot of time. Well going to have to make some for this!

The Map is Up




The map for Chinchilla Fist is finished, also made an event map to tell where actions and events are going to be present. Hopefully by sun/mon will have the level blocked in for unreal so that we can begin asset building and basic programming. The character still need to be concepted a little bit more so might help April with that if she needs it.

Currently working on a PowerPoint Presentation about the man creating the new Twisted Metal due out in 2011! Early tommorow, will have to get down to creating that map for Chinchilla Fist... so exciting!!
